Ministers of the Word proclaim the readings from the Old and New Testaments at Mass.

 

Potential Ministers of the Word must have received the sacrament of Confirmation and have certain natural gifts such as strong and clear voices.  

 

Overall they must have confidence, maturity and sensitivity not only to reach people’s ears but their minds and hearts as well.

 

Through study and prayer, the Minister of the Word develops an understanding of the Word of God and its importance in our celebration of Faith.  

 

Ministers of the Word are grouped in teams of two to ensure there is both a commentator and lector at the Sunday Liturgy.

Copies of the readings and commentary are provided in advance.
